First Annual John Bray Free Youth Boxing Clinic
First Annual John Bray Free Youth Boxing Clinic
Provided by: Jerry Gonzalez
The John Bray Boxing Club is holding its first annual John Bray Free Youth Boxing Clinic from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2.
The club is located at 1051 N. Maclay Ave., San Fernando.
The clinic is designed to help the community by preventing violence and promoting discipline and academic success among school-age students by interfacing with local community leaders.
With the cooperation and interest of community leaders as well as youth in the area, we have arranged this Free Youth Boxing Clinic because of the issues with kids that are of crucial importance to the community.
Children and young adults face many temptations everyday, whether it be drugs, gangs or peer pressure. The John Bray Boxing Club wants to provide them with an alternative where they can feel at home and escape the pressures they have to deal with.
We would like to invite you, your kids, family and friends to this special event. Everyone of all ages is welcome.
We have arranged special guest appearances by former two time Heavyweight Champion and cast member of "Rocky V" Tommy Morrison as well as former contender TV Series Star and current WBC CABOFE Middleweight Champion Miguel Espino. Please read the attached flyer for more event details.
If you or anyone you know, is interested in being a sponsor or an exhibitor, please contact Bonnie Bray at 818-427-7813 or Jerry Gonzalez at 559-643-9313. Exhibitors will present information on training, nutrition, life skills or other related topics that youths can benefit from.

Who's turning 15...
OK, the big day is only a few days away. I thought we were going to do our usual but she told me that she had to go to school due to her drama production. Oh, sorry. It's called theater arts... So our date for the day is off. We can only do breakfast. I miss the old days when I would show up on her birthday and we would go out to lunch.
One year, I sent her a balloon bouquet. I would do it this year but she might get embarrassed. It wouldn't be considered cool... Wow, how times change.
Not totally... I had download a song to Itunes. It was a song by Prince... Anyway, Jasmine has been going on about this guy that wears eyeliner and I thought she had lost her mind. When I downloaded the song by Prince it brought me back to when I was her age and reminded me of this girl that was totally into him. No, it wasn't me. It was some other girl but I realize that this is normal... It put my mind at easy to reminisce about the old days. It's all part of growing up...

Tag You're It...
This was quite interesting. I received a comment on my blog today and had no idea of where it came from so decided to investigate. It's a way of discovering new blogs, so I guess I will play along.
I know exactly who is going to be my first victim as she stole my daughter for a couple of days... I suppose it's like receiving those pesty chain letters that I never send off.
Here are the rules:

Doesn't that look Cold...
Okay, I know I've been behind on my blogging. Unfortunately, I left my camera at my mom's house so no pictures no blog. Yes, I know I can blog without the pictures but for me that's what inspires me.
Anyway, to catch you up to what has been going on around here nothing much. Yesterday was a nice day. We went to the Grove and saw a taping of a show The Late Late Show. It comes on after David Letterman. I don't stay up that late but Tom has it recorded so we watch it in the early evening. He can watch the monologue for a couple of hours... It gets annoying when he replays it over and over again.(a guy thing Iguess)
But anyway we weren't considered an audience but show enhancers. (It was fun...) I don't know if I would go again. At the end, I think they were trying to hold us hostage. The had to do editing so needed us to clap for a few seconds. Yes, I know a few seconds isn't long but I was to call home at a certain time and was late. You know to check in with the kids. How funny, now the shoe is on the other foot and I have to check in with the them. They were okay with it. I told them that we'ld be home in about another two hours or so, but I think we took a little longer. You know we had to have dinner and boy was it delicious... I guess you do have benefits when your kids start to get older.

Miss Jasmine
I had a heck of a time finding a recent picture of this young lady. Lately, she has been hiding from my camera so I'll have to fix that problem. Real quick. Can you believe she's turning 15 in another week. Wow how time flies when your having fun... I should have been prepared for this young lady... Now that I think back on it when she was in my belly she gave me a heck of a time. She told me what she liked and didn't like. Ask her about the pancake story. I've been told how she can command a room once she enters. I've heard statements of her telling people that she will be nice to them as long as they are nice to her. She holds nothing back. I wonder if these are signs of being the first born. I was an only child but I see their is truth to the pecking order. She's a take charge type of person.
She's a sweet heart!!! No, really, you have to get to know her... She puts up with nothing and will let you know it in a minute. Hot tempered... Yes!!! (this is good she's learning to control it)
Watch out world because here she come...
To my alter ego...
Kisses and Hugs

Andy
I found this picture in my daughter Jessica's collection of pictures. She's a photographer after my own heart. She loves taking pictures as much as I do but she loves taking picture of things all around the house and this is one of them. Hopefully, she will treasure this doll as it was made by her Great Aunt Laverne. I'm not sure why they are given the title of "Great Aunt" because it makes you sound older, then what you really are. She's my mom's older sister. She young at heart. She likes to show off at how hip she is. You would think that I was the old lady. Just old fashion. The kids are always going to my mom and aunt for things just because they spoil them. It must be fun. Well, back to Andy... I'm hoping that we can keep it in good condition to be able to pass it down to her children. Just like the blankets that LaVerne made for all three of my kid when they were born. Unfortunately, I was not able to pick up any of these talents. Oh, I stand correct... I remember something that I did get from her. Black and White photography, I remember now. When I was younger she had taken a photography class and had taken me to go and develop pictures with her in the darkroom at Valley College. Wow, I still remember that.

Sweet Dream...
The other night, I was on an all night scrapping frenzy. I walk out at about 3:00 in the morning and found the three of them sleeping on the couch. So I had to run and grab the camera. A once in a lifetime shot. Not really all three of them sleep like that all the time. Don't mind that the couch and the curtains don't match. I lost the couch cover a couple of months ago due to a tear. It started out as a small hole but turned into something awful. I can't replace the couch cover without having to change the drapes, so I'll get to that eventually. My to do list for 2008. I'd like something real nice like maybe even a new living room set but with kids and all. I have to wait... I'm just happy to have a place to sit my bottom and all. Plus we have two dogs... Dog hair, Yuck!!!

Ms Winnie
One gift that I received was a trip to Build a Bear...
I received my very own little dog that I named Winnie and Jessie sang "Happy Birthday to me." Of course, her version was that I lived in zoo. It okay, because it's an actual recording of her voice, so I will have it for years to come.
Now it makes me wish that I had a recording of Anthony's voice before it changed. One minute he had a little boys voice and before I knew it he sounded like a man. Yuck!!! I just thought I would throw that in as a side note. Which brings me to think of my favorite say is "that they are growing way to quick."
Anyway, I made it thorough.... Another, year.... Yeah!!!!!
Birthday
Okay, yestday the big 37 hit!!!! I'm okay with it I have a couple of more week before it really hits home. When Jasmine turns 15 then I will be crying but until then I'll be okay. I'm fortunate Jessica told me a couple of weeks ago young man in her class thought I was only 18... I almost got into an argument with an old lady when she insisted that Jasmine wasn't my daughter because I looked way to young to have kids. So I'm ageing gracefully. When I use to pick up Anthony from school I was the big sister. I love to be out with my mom, aunt and the kids. If the kids are miss behaving then I just ask them why can't the control their kids. The only thing that gives me away is the gray hair.(yuck)
Here are so pics from my special day... If anyone knows me, they know I'm not much of a birthday type person but yesterday was pretty cool. I'll have to tell you about it later due to time constraints. Like getting back to work.

Abandon Shack
I seem to always take photographs of abandon shacks. I found this one up in Death Vally while visiting Scotty's Castle. For some reason I find them artistic. I feel inspire to go on a photo shoot of Downtown LA. I was thinking of calling in on Monday as a birthday present to myself, but it's hard to call in when you work from home. It makes me feel kind of guilty. Maybe tomorrow I'll go. We'll see...
